Fun Ways to Interact with Your Dog this Summer
The summer is here and you have the sunny and fun-filled weekends ahead of you. Start planning now to include your dog in some of the fun. Dogs have been known to have very colorful personalities and no doubt they too get bored simply sitting around the house. Plan a fun day for your dog and let him in on the fun that the family is experiencing. You may think that simply walking him is fun enough. Think again! Like some humans, dogs love adventure. They love to explore new things, meet new people, and taste exotic foods. Oh yes, they certainly do!
When we think of our little friends as miniature (and somewhat hairier) humans, we are able to take their needs and feelings into consideration. So let’s think about some possible ideas for your dog.
Take Him for a Swim
What a wonderful idea. Most dogs spend their summers only dreaming of taking a dip in the pool. Why not fulfill that dream and allow your dog to go swimming? Your dog will love the cool and fresh water and will enjoy playing with the family. But beware, once you allow him to go swimming, that will be his favorite past time.
Take Him to a Local Dog Park
Many cities and small towns have what they call “Dog Parks” where dogs can go and run around, play, and meet other dogs from the neighborhood. Whoever thought up this general idea should be branded as a genius. Not only are dogs allowed to run and be free, they are also given the opportunity to interact with other dogs and make new friends. Making new friends will give them something to look forward to the next time they go.
Take Him to Get Some Ice Cream
Some ice cream parlors like Bruster’s Ice Cream have special (and free) doggie ice cream for your furry friend. We all know how hot it is during the summer time. And we all know how delicious a cold, creamy ice cream cone is on a hot day. Your dog could enjoy the same from any participating ice cream shop. The doggie ice cream treats from Bruster’s is usually simply vanilla ice cream topped with a dog treat.
So you see, there are many things you can do with your dog this summer that are not only fun, but also entertaining for both your dog and the family. Take the time to consider what your dog would like and in doing so, you will further strengthen the bond between you.
