The Importance of Attentive Pet Care

We as pet owners understand the need to maintain proper pet care for our animals. Sometimes a warped understanding of our pets cause some pet owners to inadvertently neglect the health needs of their pets. The saying "Pets are People too" has long been the view of many animal rights activists, but for some folks, the saying is better understood than experienced. This leads to a rising trend of pet neglect that encompasses the whole globe. Are our pets at risk of unintentional neglect? What are the warning signs that a family pet is being neglected?

Less Frequent Trips to the Vet
A pet needs to go to the vet regularly to help maintain its health. Similarly, humans must have physical every year and visit the dentist twice a year to maintain good physical and oral health. Likewise, a pet must make regular trips to the family vet in order to be as healthy as it can be. Dogs and cats need yearly rabies shots as well as other shots to make sure their immune systems are functioning properly.

Less Walks & Attention
A pet may receive a lot of attention when they first became a part of the family. The idea of having new pet was fresh and the excitement was still real. But over time, the dog would be walked a little less and/or would receive a little less attention from its owners. This is a sad but true situation.

Becoming an Annoyance Rather than a Joy
Some pets and owners are inseparable. But sometimes as time progresses, the pet may become an annoyance to the owner. Whether it’s the bark has become annoying or its meowing, or whatever. When it gets to this point, action must be taken.

Unfortunately, the above mentioned is more common than we would like to admit. If we see some areas that need improvement, we need to take action immediately. Our pets deserve attentive and loving care. It is very sad that some animals are unintentionally neglected, but our pets need not be one of the statistics. Kind attention, patience, and love can counter any negative results that may have come from neglect. We owe it to our pets to care for them.
